Focused Roadmaps
- Platform Vision: GitHub -> Hugging Face -> Prox OS analogy, OS Space object model, future OS app portfolio, MCP strategy, and competitor landscape.
- Pricing and Commercialization: Space + Studio + Connector + Permission + MCP Gateway packaging, first
$10Kexperiments, Prox Space Launch Pack, and self-serve vs concierge routes. - Product Roadmap: v0.1-v0.5 product stages, public preview, waitlist, invite-only beta sequencing, sample apps, and user-facing milestones.
- Platform Roadmap: platform capability sequencing for sources, information, knowledge, workflow, permissions, views, publishing, and app runtime.
- Prox Studio Roadmap: Prox Studio System v0, Studio Engine demos, AI Entry, Alma package boundary, Global Cmd+K, BlockNote, Excalidraw, and projection depth.
- URL And Surface Model: SurfaceType, owner-scoped creator paths, Store listing URLs,
/app-os/*runtime route preservation, and revenue split ownership boundaries. - Space, Desktop, And Window Session: Space, virtual desktop/workspace language convergence, future Space URLs, WindowSession, DesktopLayout, and app-owned data boundaries.
- Desktop Grid Model: responsive desktop item coordinates, safe areas, and resize-safe window geometry direction.
- Window Group Layout Presets: Space and selected-window layout preset rules, including Dev, Founder, and Personal examples.
- Hub App Model: Hub as runnable product bundle, eight first-party Hub candidates, and Hub vs Folder vs Collection boundaries.
- Growth Roadmap: build-in-public, killer demo, templates, clone/remix, badges, and community gallery loops.
- Working Backlog: non-canonical, safe-to-delete candidate task list for engineering and product follow-ups after the package taxonomy migration.
- Prox Cloud Roadmap: hosted Prox OS direction, infrastructure candidates, operating-cost warnings, and activation conditions.
- Platform Incubation Roadmap: design operating system, Join Us role map, platform tracks, Storybook, deck-as-code, and future incubation without implying implementation scope.
- App Namespace and Domain Strategy: creator-owned paths, stable
appId, official infrastructure subdomains, API/docs boundaries — candidate direction, not final routing contract. - Future Shell Appearance: long-term wallpaper and visual-language presets (planning only; does not change current design docs).
- Alma MVP+: shell sidecar, Workflow Cards, Action Plan, Display Options, BYOK, artifacts, memory, agents, and workflow store direction.
- AI-generated Apps And Dashboards: artifact-to-app promotion roadmap from local dashboards to branch, PR, CI, preview, and registry confirmation.
- Mobile AI-first Remote OS: mobile direction from Alma first to remote workspace control and approvals.
- Device Studio: future mobile companion, PWA, Expo boundary, Studio View JSON, gallery naming, and policy notes.
- Governance: governance objects, role system, contribution lifecycle, asset ownership, and OS-native governance console direction.
- Legacy Combined Roadmap: the larger historical roadmap and planning notes. Keep it for continuity, but prefer the focused files above for new planning.
Current Product Judgment
Short term, Próx OS should not only polish the Web OS shell, and it should not start with a broad personal data sovereignty suite. The current route is cloud-first, GitHub-first, RSS-first, and AI Context-first.
v0.1 should validate in public but onboard through a waitlist and
invite-only beta. It should not promise broad global paid access, automatic
marketplace payouts, enterprise compliance certification, or autonomous agent
execution.
The next best sample app is Awesome GitHub Radar, followed by RSS Knowledge Inbox, then AI Context Builder.
Strategic anchor:
GitHub lets people publish code. Hugging Face lets people publish models, datasets, and demos. Prox OS explores letting people publish their own OS Apps, OS Spaces, source combinations, and AI Context. The App Store is only the curated storefront; the real commercial core is Space + Studio + Connector + Permission + MCP Gateway.Early narrative:
Paste an awesome GitHub repo. Get a living OS Space.
